The A5 practice skin used at Badass Tattoo Academy is a training supply for trainees and artists who want to rehearse techniques before working on real skin.
We chose this type of skin because it does not hide mistakes. Being thin and sensitive to pressure, it provides quick feedback: pressing too hard leaves blowout-like marks; pressing too lightly prevents the pigment from settling properly, leaving the area light grey instead of black.
Useful for practising speed, pressure, depth and consistency of movement. These details make the difference between a clean line, saturated packing and uncertain execution.
